2017 State Rural Ambassador
Hello! My name is Christie McLennan and I represent the Taroom Show Society. It gives me great pleasure to be representing Queensland in 2017 as the MARSH Rural Ambassador and I look forward to traveling to many shows to learn about your shows and promote the competition and agriculture as a whole.
I am a pharmacist by trade and own the Taroom Pharmacy. Together with my husband (and enthusiastic two year old daughter) we operate a background feeder herd on a lease property outside of Taroom. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, especially growing fruit and vegetables, cooking, travelling, playing social golf and water skiing when the rainfall permits! I pride myself on the ability to balance work, farming, family and community involvement.
I have a long standing association with the show movement. I have been involved with the Taroom Show Society from a young age. In 2010 I represented Taroom in the Miss Showgirl competition and was privileged to receive the state title. The Showgirl competition boosted my involvement in the show society and since 2011 I have been an active committee member, Showgirl coordinator and now hold the position of Vice President. At a Sub Chamber level I have held the position of President for the South West for three years. In 2016 I received the inaugural QCAS Next Gen Emerging Leaders award.
I am very passionate about the future of Queensland Shows and promoting them to our urban cousins. I recognise that Taroom is quite a distance from many shows but am flexible and committed to helping out wherever possible so feel free to email to discuss whatever plans you have for 2018.
