2017 National Rural Ambassador
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Justin Matthews and I have the privilege of representing Queensland as your 2016 Marsh Rural Ambassador. I hale from the wonderful South Burnett Region and represent Nanango Show Society. I am very fortunate to have experience across a wide variety of areas within the show movement from Stewarding and being the ring announcer for the beef cattle section at Nanango, to the Chief Stewards role in the Beef Cattle Education – Ekka Cow Paddock – at the Brisbane Ekka and right through to working behind the scenes as a production technician at many of our shows. When I’m not in the ring you can generally catch me front and centre ringside with a camera in hand ready to capture the action both on the ground and in the skies (being a huge lover of all things fireworks).
Agriculture is a wonderfully diverse industry and what better way of showcasing it then through our Queensland Shows Movement. I am very keen on encouraging today’s youth and tomorrows leaders on finding a pathway in agriculture and highlighting some of the lesser known industry pathways that are fast becoming the jobs of tomorrow in the agricultural sector. I look forward to meeting many of the youth competitors and Ambassador Entrants throughout this year’s show calendar.
I am extremely excited to represent Queensland as Rural Ambassador and I look forward to getting out and about ringside at as many shows as possible this season. Please do not hesitate to contact me as I am looking forward to attending as many of the terrific shows we have on offer in Queensland.
